Avishai Leger-Tanger

Artist statement

Avishai Leger-Tanger is an artist, art director and producer whose work is inspired by India. His creations in collaboration with the renowned Indian classical dancer Mahina Khanum – involving dance, photography, videography, music, painting and digital art – made the headlines in India and beyond.

Avishai Leger-Tanger was the Music Director for the Indian wedding scene of ‘Murder Mystery 2’ (a Netflix comedy starring Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler), which was composed by the leading Mumbai-based duet Avinash & Vishwajeet and choreographed by Mahina Khanum.

Career

Avishai Leger-Tanger served as Communications and PR Manager and as a Digital Communications Manager for various nonprofit organizations. He is the author of awareness campaigns against racism, anti-Semitism and all forms of hatred, with his creative content reaching up to 12 millions people a week on social media.

In 2015, he joined the Indian Arts Lab (nonprofit under French law), alongside Mahina Khanum, and set out to innovate in the field of cultural mediation between France and India. He initiated four editions of the Indian Classical Dance Festival “Mouvements Emouvants” (2015-2017), under the high patronage of the Embassy of India in Paris. He also develops new educational tools to support the teaching of Indian classical dance in the French context.

His skills in digital creation soon lead him to pursue an original artistic approach focusing on the contrast between the traditional Indian culture and new technologies.
